Trailblazers,

Happy Monday to you! This is Mrs. Graf with important updates and information:

We are still in need of assistance for our Holiday Gift Drive.  If you are willing to sponsor a child here at school please complete a sponsor form on line at the school website or on the PTA website.  You may contact Mr. Day at wday@wcpss.net as well.  At our last count, we are in need of over 30 more sponsors. The extension runs to the end of the week.  All sponsor forms must be turned in to the school by Friday afternoon.  The PTA and I thank you so much for your kindness!!

A big thank you goes out to all of volunteers, parents, teachers and students who helped make our Book Fair a success.  Our last count for book fair funds we were over $13,000 in sales and BRES will get a portion of those sales to support the Media Center! Ms. McCool does an outstanding job of identifying student and staff needs and I am certain that she will supplement the media center with much needed items to support teaching and learning.

This week is Spirit Week at BRES.  Show your school spirit all week by participating in the following activities.

Tuesday- Mismatch Day:  wear your outfit mismatch style!  We also have 3rd Grade ITBS Testing for students on tracks 2,3, & 4.  2nd grade will also participate in an on campus field trip for students on tracks 3 & 4.  Banks Boomers and the Mural Club will meet on Tuesday afterschool from 4-5 p.m. The Boomers will perform at Crabtree Valley Mall from 7-8:00 p.m.  They will spread some early holiday cheer by singing holiday music as well as premiering their Pieces of Gold audition piece.  All Boomers should have received information from Ms. LaPlace with specific information about the Crabtree performance.  If you have the time, please come out and support the Boomers at their holiday premier.  Please call the school with any questions about this special performance.  And finally, GOTR meets afterschool on Tuesday until 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday- Crazy Hair Day: Style that hair is the most creative or crazy way you can!  ITBS Testing continues for selected 3rd graders.

Thursday-Sports Day: bring on the team jerseys or sports outfits!  Banks Boomers practice at 8:00 with Ms. LaPlace.  Student Council will meet at 8:00 in the Media Center.  A big congratulations goes out to our newly elected officers for the 2014-2015 school year.  Our Student Council President is Jacob Sinnott.  VP is Teak Walters, Secretary is Lizzy Zumbahlen, Treasurer is Abbey Creighton, PTA Liaisons are Jack Ross and Bianca Ramirez, and last but not least our Historian position will be filled by Emma Dranttel.  What a fine group of student leaders who will work to shape and deepen our traditions here at BRES. On Thursday we will also have our mock 5 K for the GOTR.  These girls have been working so hard and the Reindeer Romp is only a few short weeks away.  On Thursday afternoon these girls will run with their partners to prepare for the Reindeer Romp!  Come on out and support these girls beginning at 4:15 p.m.

Friday-School Colors Day: wear your beloved BRES school t-shirt or our school colors or blue and green on this day!  Friday is also our Pre-K Family Partnership Day.  And finally, T3 & T4 Interims will be sent home in Friday folders.
Looking Ahead to Next Week:

11/27-11/28 No School for Thanksgiving Holiday.

And finally, are you looking for an easy way to support our school? Wouldn’t you love to zip into and out of carpool quickly and safely? Our PTA will be raffling off a VIP Carpool Pass that a will allow you to be first in line during carpool.  The raffle will benefit our PTA Fun Run fund for this school year.  Watch for more information about the VIP Carpool Tag on Twitter, the PTA Facebook page and the Principal’s Desk blog.

That’s it Trailblazers!  All of this information will be posted on the school website and will go out on the Principal’s Desk Blog.  Please call the school with any questions.  Always Trailblazer Proud, Mrs. Graf
