Good evening Trailblazers,
Happy Monday to you!
First things first, I hope everyone had a great long weekend and holiday with their family and friends. Over the break work continued here at BRES—work on installing our shade structures that is. Our PTA graciously funded the two beautiful umbrellas out in carpool lane. Our students and staff will be sheltered from the hot sun this summer. A big thank you goes out to our PTA!
Looking ahead to next week:
December 3rd: School-wide Spelling Bee at 1:00 p.m. in the MPR; Spirit Day- Dress as your favorite holiday character (please remember the school dress code) & the Boomer’s Pieces of Gold Audition. Boomers should be dressed in dark blue jeans and their Boomer’s t-shirt. We are meeting in the Front Lobby of BRES at 3:20 p.m. and will leave campus at 3:30 p.m. We will drive to Martin Middle School (1701 Ridge Road, Raleigh) and meet at the front of the school. We will rehearse one last time prior to our audition time at 5:00 p.m. Parents, please email or contact Ms. Loftin to confirm your child’s method of transportation to the audition (firstname.lastname@example.org). There is practice for the Boomer’s on Tuesday, December 3rd at 8:00 a.m. as well. Wish us great luck with our performance!
December 4th: School Spirit Holiday Pajama Day sponsored by our Student Council; Track 1 students track out! Track 2 students return on December 5th.
December 5th: School Spirit Dress as a holiday present in ribbons and bows sponsored by our Student Council
December 6th: Dress like a candy cane in red and white sponsored by our Student Council
Student Council is collecting Winter Wear items (coats, gloves/mittens, scarves, and hats). All donations can be dropped off in the collection box outside of the front office. If you have any student(s) that need these items either at recess or at home for the cold bus stop at the morning, please send them to the collection box to get what they need. You may take items for them, or they can take what they need. We want to make sure our BRES students are taken care of first, and then we’ll serve the community. We will collect items from December 2 through the end of January 2014. Thank you!
Next week: Annual Movie Night is December 12th. This PTA sponsored event has become a favorite tradition here at BRES. Join us in the multipurpose room at 6:00 p.m. for our free movie and a bag of popcorn. You are welcome to bring snacks, drinks, blankets or sleeping bags. Students are permitted to wear school appropriate pajamas!
Parents, we have a ton of jackets, sweatshirts, hats, lunch boxes, gloves, etc. in our lost and found. We have moved our lost and found to the café and organized the clothes. We have sorted and distributed to the owner any items that had a name written in them. All of the clothes left now cannot be identified. If your child has lost an item, please come in and look for it. All items left after this Friday will be donated to charity!
Did you know we are TWEETING? It’s true. :) Check out our updated website with the Bus Twitter account and my Twitter account. I am posting pictures of the learning and teaching process in action as I walk through classrooms, sending out information about events, sharing articles or research about education in general and even updating you with special moments here at BRES. You don’t want to miss out on Ms. Livengood’s bus posts either! She is posting when buses depart campus so you will know if a bus has been delayed or when to be at the bus stop to meet your child. Follow us at CarmenMonteroGraf@BanksRoadES and @BanksRoadBuses!
That’s it Trailblazers. All of this information will be posted on the BRES school website and the Principal’s Desk blog. Please call the school should you have any questions.
Always Trailblazer Proud, Mrs. Graf
